It’s Friday night in the US, and not many people are listening to music on Spotify.
Users claim that streaming have suddenly halted, and those who have checked out have reported having trouble logging back in.
Over 30,000 reports of the outage have been made on DownDetector.com, with a notable increase in reports since just before 8PM ET.
Although the player itself is the most crucial component of Spotify, a status page for the company’s online API indicates a “small” partial outage affecting only that. This is consistent with what we’re witnessing.
Although the Spotify Status Twitter account tweeted that “we’re working into it,” it is still unclear what may have caused the issue or when services will resume.
A Google Cloud issue caused this type of service-wide outage for Spotify the previous time it was reported, but no signs have been found of a more widespread cloud or routing problem that would possibly affect other services.
Stay tuned for more Spotify updates.
