Former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, was found dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires after reportedly falling from the balcony of his third-floor room, according to Argentine police on Wednesday. The police were alerted to the hotel in the Palermo neighborhood after receiving a report about a “disturbing and aggressive individual, possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.” The hotel manager stated that he heard a loud noise from the rear of the building, and when officers arrived, they discovered that the man had fallen from his balcony, the report said.
A hotel worker contacted the police urgently, seeking help for an intoxicated guest, according to audio from the Buenos Aires security ministry related to the case. “When he is conscious, he is destroying the entire room, and we need someone to be sent,” the worker reported, also expressing concern for the guest’s life due to the presence of a balcony in the room.
Emergency responders later removed the body from the hotel and transported it to the morgue. Meanwhile, fans and bystanders who had gathered throughout the evening—some hugging and in tears—broke into applause.
