Donald Trump aims to end 14th Amendment birthright citizenship to address the migrant crisis in the U.S. In a recent interview, Trump suggested a constitutional change might be necessary, saying, “We have to end it.” He also questioned whether executive action could bypass the amendment.
Trump previously sought to end birthright citizenship during his first term but was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. His proposed approach involves ordering federal agencies to stop issuing citizenship documents, such as Social Security cards and passports, to children of undocumented immigrants born in the U.S.
